Trina A. Nudson is the founder of The Layne Project, Inc., established in 2008 after eight years of combined experience in social work and family law. The Layne Project was created alongside My Child Advocate, PA, her law practice dedicated to amplifying the voice of children in the legal system. Trina continues to maintain her licenses as both a social worker and attorney.
Trina’s career has always centered on protecting children and strengthening systems. She began as a foster care social worker with Kansas Children’s Service League and later served as a juvenile corrections officer, intake counselor, truancy diversion officer, and case manager. While in law school at the University of Kansas, she worked in the Child in Need of Care Division of the Topeka District Attorney’s office — experiences that deepened her resolve to drive systemic change.
In addition to her legal and social work credentials, Trina is a trained and certified mediator, conciliator, parenting coordinator, and domestic case manager through the State of Kansas. She is also a Certified Divorce Coach®, Divorce Coaching Academy® Coach, Certified Coparenting Specialist®, Certified Divorce Specialist®, conflict management coach, and trained in collaborative law.
In recent years, Trina has expanded her work to include the development of technology-driven solutions for family systems. She is the creator of BeH2O®, a scalable co-parenting framework certified through Kansas State University; developing BeAligned™, an AI-powered platform designed to reduce conflict between parents and institutions; and BeNovaFlow™, custom AI tools that provides real-time communication support for co-parents. Through these innovations, Trina blends her deep knowledge of family systems with technology to empower professionals, families, and institutions to protect children and reduce conflict.
Trina is an active member of the American Bar Association, Johnson County Bar Association, Johnson County Family Law Inn of Court, Divorce Girl Smiling, National Association of Divorce Professionals, Supervised Visitation Network, and Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.
She holds a J.D. and dual bachelor’s degrees from the University of Kansas: a BSW (1998) and a BGS in Human Development and Family Life with an emphasis on delinquency and juvenile justice. She earned her law degree from the University of Kansas School of Law in 2003.
Trina lives in Johnson County, Kansas with her husband, four children, and there Boston Terrier, Odin.
